I have been late to the TikTok party. I only downloaded it and created an account a few months ago after one of my friends was highly encouraging of it, saying it was “better than Instagram!”. And as I have had a bit of a strained relationship with Instagram this past year then I did question the validity of that statement.
But it was true. TikTok is in fact better than Instagram. I have found it far more authentic and educational and just generally appealing. The vibe, at least on my account, is far more uplifting and much less staged or curated. As such, one of the videos that TikTok has been serving me is where people discuss what is ‘in and out’ for 2024. As a big goal-getter/manifesting girlie, I kinda like the simplicity of the ‘this is what is in and this is what is out’ list, because it’s feels much less restrictive and kind of gives a good overarching look at how we’re making 2024 better all around. Mostly, it feels rather wholesome.
I’d like to do a large review of 2023 later in the week, but the overall vibe in 2024 that we are going with is:
Wipe the slate clean with new beginnings; releasing old habits, patterns and things that no longer serve me.
So here we go:
IN
Daily movement: walking, running, yoga, gym, whatever it is. Move daily.
Eat to nourish: Eat in a way that is respectful to my body, that supports it and makes it feel good. Lots of wholesome, good quality food and goodbye to sugary, emotional support foods.
Saying yes to the things that feel good, and allow myself to be happy and feel good: Much of the last 6 years has been a very heavy, treacherous grind. It has felt like a constant state of my nervous system being on high alert. Like I have been unable to be happy and do what I love. We be changing that.
Investing in deep and authentic friendships and connections: Making the time and effort to surround myself with those that I love and continue to deepen those connections
Stay true to my word: stay in integrity to myself, if I say I will do something then do it
Self-love and lots of it, nurture my inner child
A healthy and solid investment portfolio and good money habits
Understated classic elegance
Daily meditation
Leaning into my feminine and allowing softness
Business class travel
Writing, writing and more writing
Being present
More gardening and hands in the dirt
Wholesome cooking and more dancing in my kitchen
OUT
Junk: people, food, mindset
Frivolous spending
Burnout and saying yes when we actually mean no
Lack of boundaries and denying my needs to appease another person (allowing myself to feel shit so that they can feel good)
Living in fear: fear of something bad happening, fear of not being liked, fear of happiness and success, fear of making mistakes
Being in a scarcity mindset
Laziness, as in the, “I can’t be bothered” not the “I am burned out right now and need a break”
Poor communication
I sense this list will ebb and flow but I like the direction it’s going, good things to really encourage, aim for and become my North Star.
Would love to know what’s in and out for you, if you feel so free to share!
